About

I've spent twenty years building learning systems in academia — in the US, East Africa, and the Gulf. Most of that work has involved building e-learning functions where none existed, developing faculty technology skills and building digital learning ecosystems that can solve the multitude of problems faced in higher education. My background is in instructional design and educational technology, but the problems I've spent most of my career solving are institutional ones — understanding the forest and the trees when building technology systems. I’m a strong believer in putting people at the center of design and making sure empathy is central. I'm currently building the Meaning Machine — a place-based digital learning platform that uses AI and geolocation to uncover the historical and cultural layers embedded in cities, writing on the application of the ARCs Model and designing a course for a university in the Caucasus titled Responsible and Practical AI Use in Education.
